Sand Art

Sand art is not only about sand sculpture, but also sand drawing.

Artist: Jim Denevan

Jim Denevan is a Northern California artist who makes temporary drawings on sand, earth and ice that are eventually erased by waves and weather.

'I just picked up a stick and started to make shapes,' he said. 'Before long I had covered the beach in animals, cars, volcanoes...you name it!'

He does it without any measuring aids. It’s all freehand stuff. It usually takes him 7 hours or 30 miles of labor to compose, design rather, a single oeuvre.

Artist: Peter Donnelly

New Zealand's artist Peter Donnelly has practiced his ephemeral art at the beach for the past 10 years.

With a simple stick and a rake, he paints elaborate works of art in the sand.

Artist: Jamie Wardley

Jamie Wardley is a British artist who makes ice and sand sculpture and drawings.

He then made his own company called “Sand in Your Eyes”.

He and his team create incredibly detailed sand drawings, up to 800 meters large.
