Marker-Drawn Murals by Charlotte Man

Peckham-based British artist Charlotte Mann creates intricate murals on plain walls with a simple black markers and white emulsion paint.

Besides decorating backdrops for fashion shows or working on outdoors projects, Charlotte also decorates living spaces.

Charlotte uses a special water-based marker called the Posca marker pen, which is non toxic, to prevents her from feeling light-headed from the fumes during long drawing sessions.

Charlotte’s murals are meticulous in their detail and commissions can take up to two months to complete.

She has a whole team helping her out with projects.

“There’s been a team since the beginning – I can’t do it on my own – things take too long. For example, there’ll be a massive tree. I’ll draw the outline of all the leaves and someone else will draw the veins.”

If she makes a mistake, she uses about ten coats of white emulsion to paint over it.
