Macro Snowflake Photos by Alexey Kljatov

Russian photographer Alexey Kljatov has created a series of excellent close-up pictures of snowflakes.

"I capture snowflakes at open balcony of my house, mostly on glass surface, lighted by LED flashlight from opposite side of glass, and sometimes in natural light, using dark woolen fabrics as background."

All he need to create his artworks is a Canon Powershot A650, a board, a screw, some tape, a piece of glass and a 44M-5 Helios lens from an old Russian Zenit camera taped backwards to the board - check more detail on how to create it in his blog post.

He illuminates the ice with a flashlight and sets up a simple background of dark wool fabric.
