Body Camouflage by Liu Bolin

Chinese artist Liu Bolin From Shandong, also known as the Invisible Man, manages to camouflage himself into any surroundings.

One single photo takes up to 10 hours to prepare.

With a little help from an assistant, Liu paints his body to merge as seamlessly as possible with his surroundings.

Sometimes passers-by don’t even realize he is there until he moves.

Liu Bolin says his art is a protest against the actions of the Government, who shut down his art studio in 2005 and persecutes artists.

“The situation for artists in China is very difficult and the forced removal of the artist’s studio is in fact my direct inspiration of this series of photographs, Hiding In The City…I am standing, but there is a silent protest, the protest against the environment for the survival, the protest against the state.”

In his 'Dragon Series', the artist has chosen the iconic site of the 'Nine Dragon Wall' in Beihai Park to celebrate the grandeur of chinese culture and history.
