Wild Plant Human Organs by Camila Carlow

UK-based, Guatemalan-born artist Camila Carlow creates human organs from vibrant varieties of wild plants for her series 'Eye Heart Spleen'.

Breast

Carlow collected and assembled the wild plants during early morning in Bristol so they could be photographed in natural daylight and to keep them as fresh as possible.

Lungs

"Regardless of whether we fill ourselves with toxins or nourishing food, whether we exercise or not -- our organs sustain us, working away effortlessly and unnoticed."

Kidney

"In a similar way, plants flourishing in the urban environment are a testament to nature’s indifference to our goings on. They grow out of the sides of buildings, in brick walls and between the cracks in concrete, despite of the traffic and pollution."

Gut

"This work invites the viewer to regard our vital structures as beautiful living organisms, and to contemplate the miraculous work taking place inside our bodies, even in this very moment."

Pancreas

Spleen

Heart

Eye

Brain

Uterus

Testicles
