Delicate Cut Paper Flowers by Maude White

Buffalo-based artist Maude White (previously here) is back with a new series of illustrations cut from single sheets of paper as part of her upcoming exhibition at Buffalo Arts Studio.

"When I cut paper, I like the idea that I’m interacting with the paper. I’m not using the paper to say something—we’re working together, the paper and I. It is important to me for the piece we create to be immersive. Ideally, that means that the scene I’ve created is interesting and engaging and stimulating and draws the viewer in. That’s what I always try for. The act of cutting the paper adds another layer. The piece of work can be visually, as well as thematically, immersive. I love paper. I love thinking that by working with it, the paper and I are telling a story together."
