'Happy Flowers' by Peter van de Werken

Valentine's day is around the corner.. If you want to buy flowers for your sweetheart, you might want to consider this :)

Dutch Peter van de Werken, the owner of a flower company close to Den Bosch in southern Holland, has invented this wonderful rainbow flowers called 'Happy Flowers'.

I know they look ‘photoshopped’ but these amazing flowers are the real thing

Peter dyes each bloom in the colours of the rainbow. The dyes are produced from natural plant extracts into their stems, and are absorbed by the flowers so when they grow each petal has a different colour.

In theory this process seems simple enough, but to actually acheive it is difficult. The measurements must be exact or you will get a bad batch.

Peter also made a series for his creation, like this "Happy World Cup Roses".

Rainbow roses plants and bushes aren't available for sale. You can only get cut or dried flowers. But the price of course is expensive.

Five cut rainbow roses sell for $55, a half-dozen (6) goes for about $90, not including shipping! You can also get a freeze dried specimen, which might be a better option if you're spending that kind of money.

Peter also uses the same technique to other flowers like Hortensia and Chrysanthemum.
