Hair Sculptures by Huang Xin

Huang Xin, a young hairdresser from Sichuan Province has created replicas and sculptures using discarded human hair.

He collects his customers hair, cleans it, dyes it, glues it to paper, and then adds it to his sculptures.

Tiananmen (天安门) Square Replicas

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of People’s Republic of China in a unique manner, Huang Xin creates these impressive models of Tiananmen Square using discarded human hair, mostly from women.

It took him 5 months of sweeping hair off the floor before he had the 11 kgs required to build his Gate Tower, which measures 86cm long, 32cm wide, and 60cm high.

Huang Xin made a pair of lovely tigers entitled "auspicious tiger with invincible might" to celebrate the year of the tiger. The displays made from 2.6 kgs of hair, which took over 2 months to complete.

Obama Sculpture

To celebrate President Barack Obama‘s visit to China, Huang Xin created a small sculpture of the US head of state from human hair.

It took 4 kgs of hair and 7 days and 7 nights for him to complete the sculptures.
