Italian painter Elisabetta Rogai uses red wine as artistic material.

"I noticed what happened when some drops of wine fell on the dinner table, and I thought it could be an interesting idea to bring those kind of colors and shapes to my canvas. Of course, before arriving at a good piece of art I had to experiment a lot. It’s part of my nature since I used to paint on a canvas made of denim. About the type of wine, I choose those as dark as possible among young wines. Of course 95% of the wine I use is red (white ones are just for giving light in some spots)."

To keep the aging of the wine going on on indefinitely, until the colors fade almost completely, Rogai has created a natural color fixating system based on water and flour. This leaves the hues unchanged but prevents colors from fading over a certain threshold.
In addition to using regular wine, she also uses a grape residue similar to oil paints produced at the University of Florence, Italy.

[link]“I marvel at the composition of nature and cycles. I am not versed in the convergence of art and mathematics or sciences, but find myself instinctually attracted to this relationship. I try to dilute my efforts and find an experiential point of entrance. I like to experiment with both embodied and cognitive systems that yield beauty. My favorite art is somewhat accidental and overwhelmingly concise.”

Money Portraits by Senseteam
Chinese creative agency Senseteam creates these stunning artworks made of banknotes from various country.
Their artworks are compiled in a book and poster series entitled 'Big Business 3' meant to “reflect the subtle relationships and influences across money, desire, society, nations, and human beings.”
Senseteam members painstakingly cut banknotes into hundreds of strips and glued them together in the shape of intricate human portraits.

"My work is about change and the passing of time, and the transience of everything around us."
"My attention has been drawn to the cheap distractions we choose to place in our immediate vicinity, with which to screen us from the overwhelming facts: that we are nothing; that our only certainty as individuals is a life, of unspecified duration, and then a death."
"For me, creating seemingly solid structures or forms from thousands of individually suspended elements has a direct relation with my experience of these forces. There is a sense of fragility and a lack of solidity that carries through all the sculptures. I feel as if they are somewhere between movement and stillness, and thus in possession of a certain energy."
"Animals, birds and insects have been present in my recent sculptures, and I use suspense to create something akin to freeze frames. In some works, animals might appear to fly or fall through other seemingly solid suspended forms, or even perch or sit on them. In other works, insects appear to fly in static formations. The evidence of gravity - or lack of it - inherent in these scenarios is what brings them to life, or death."
"The processes involved in the work are laborious and there are thousands of individual elements involved, but clarity of form is of high importance. I do not wish the animals to provide a narrative, but rather to introduce an element of movement, or energy, or some sort of reality; animating or interacting with the larger architectural forms."
Morgan created this sculpture made of 5,300 origami paper boats when she was commissioned by National Trust in Newcastle, UK in 2006.
"People seemed to latch on to that image and it brought me a lot of attention."
