Haystack Monochromatic Portraits by Borondo

Spanish street artist Borondo created these monochromatic portraits using spray paints towards a giant haystack at Cotignola, Italy.

Borondo used old photographs as reference for his artworks that cover all sides of the stacks.

The Manhattan Project by Noah Scalin

American artist Noah Scalin created these unique series of portraits of scientists who worked on the creation of the first atomic weapons, titled 'The Manhattan Project'. Each image is meticulously made of 1,000 matches and then burned.

"The resulting burned after images are reminiscent of the permanent nuclear shadows of the victims of the atomic bombing in Hiroshima. Also included are silhouettes of Fatman and LittleBoy, the first two atomic bombs, which were dropped on Japan."

Vanitas by Truly Design

Turin-based studio Truly Design recently completed 'Vanitas', a project that combines the magic of optical illusion with graffiti and street art style.

"Recently EPFL, the Polytechnic Federal School of Lausanne invited us to participate in the “Art on Science” public exhibition, focused on optical illusions. A great opportunity for a reflection on science and human ambition.This is our tribute to Vanitas, a widely depicted theme in the history of arts. Alongside symbols of worldly ambition, scientific accomplishments, and vanity, we find allegories of the frail and transient nature of our existence. Far from being a morbid or bleak rebuke, it is an invitation to treasure in humbleness every instant of our precious lives."

Miniature Window Silhouettes by Pejac

Spanish artist Pejac created these silhouette artwork that create optical illusions, to commemorate the 40th anniversary of French high-wire walker Philippe Petit’s daring walk between the Twin Towers in New York.
