2015 Revere Beach International Sand Sculpting Festival

The Revere Beach International Sand Sculpting Festival is an annual event held at Boston's Revere Beach. Master sand sculptors compete for over $15,000 in prize money in the annual festival that has attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors each year since 2004.



Each sculptor is given 10 tons of sand and are assigned an 18’ x 18’ square exhibit area. Artists are limited to 24 total hours of work, which is spread out over several days.



The sand sculptures are judged based on four categories: 1) degree of difficulty, 2) originality and creativity, 3) quality of sculpting, and 4) overall visual impact.

Corso Zundert Flower Parade 2014

It’s time for the world’s largest flower parade Corso Zundert (Previously here) in the Netherlands.



The annual parade features 20 20x10 meters floats completely adorned with dahlia flowers.

Fête du Citron - The Lemon Festival in Menton

The Lemon Festival (or Fête du Citron® in French) is an annual celebration of citrus in Menton.

It takes place between mid-February until March, featuring giant sculptures made with thousands of oranges and lemons.

This exhibition required more than 300 professionals, 500,000 elastic bands and 145 metric tons of citrus fruit.

To make the displays, first a metal frame is created, then wire netting is fixed to the frame. A teams of volunteers fix the lemons or oranges onto the wire netting using rubber bands.

Each day of the festival, gardeners walk around the displays replacing any rotten fruit.

When the event is over, the Department of Parks and Gardens have to remove everything in 5 days, including redoing the lawn in the Biovès gardens and replacing the plants.

The citrus fruits which are still in good condition are sold off at token prices in front of the Palais de l'Europe for those who want to make them into jam and wine.

Bloemencorso Zundert Flower Parade

Bloemencorso Zundert is the largest annual flower parade in the world.

The parade takes place on the first Sunday of September.

Each float is made with thousands of dahlia flowers, requires hundreds of people to construct, and takes about three months to complete.
