Los Angeles-based artist Alexa Meade (previously here) is known for her 3D paintings that make real 3D subjects look like flat images.
The renowned artist transformed a three-dimensional room into a two-dimensional scene for her installation in Santa Monica, California.
"Painting is about capturing things in a specific light that they’re in. I’m just really fascinated by reflections and reflected light and how we perceive space. I’m interested in capturing the subject itself and then the artists reinterpretation of it. My thin layer of paint dissolves the body underneath of it. Looking at the photographs you don’t see a person anymore, you see the reinterpretation of reality."
"What’s so difficult about what I do is that once it’s done, it’s done. You can’t go back and use fresh eyes to touch things up. This is really challenging. I don’t even go in and paint in photoshop, whatever photo I snapped, I’m left with that to exhibit. Sometimes I’ll make a fantastic painting and I’ll do the photo shoot, look at the pictures and then notice something’s weird."
