Boston-based artist Jessica Dunegan creates these mixed media paintings using a mixture of epoxy resin, acrylic paint, and archival prints.
Dunegan establishing a base with a photograph printed on transparency. She then proceeds to coat it by pouring a layer of liquid resin and then squeezes acrylic paint into the resin layer and creates opaque, delineating strands of paint. Once that dries, she repeats this process continuously to produce a three-dimensional quality. The water becomes so hyper-realistic.
Each of the artist's paintings can take her up to three weeks to complete.
“My subjects are more than superficial objects. They may look realistic from afar, but upon further inspection, they are comprised of suspended, chaotic lines. I want to capture each animated form in time and celebrate its imperfections.”
